Orthodontic Care For Crooked Teeth Or Jaw Problems

Orthodontic Care for Crooked Teeth or Jaw Problems

For many people, a straight and bright smile is a confidence booster. Thankfully, there are various orthodontic techniques offered to those who want to improve their smile. If you have been thinking about visiting an orthodontist for crooked teeth or jaw problems, there are a few things to know first. You may have plenty of questions about the best approach to getting a smile you are happier with. The only way to know for sure if orthodontic care is right for you, is to speak with a reputable orthodontics clinic near you.

First: Call and Book a Consultation

Before getting any kind of orthodontic work done, you will have to get an examination and consultation. Many orthodontic offices offer this at no charge. You can then meet the staff, the orthodontist, and decide whether it’s a good fit for what you need. During the consultation, feel free to ask any questions you have about your options and what is recommended based on your individual circumstances.

Second: Assess Your Treatment Options

After an exam of your mouth, and maybe running some diagnostics like x-rays, your orthodontist will suggest a treatment plan to address your needs. Some people will opt for traditional braces, and others may lean towards Invisalign. It is a personal choice, however, your orthodontist may recommend one of the others depending on the type and severity of your dental problems.

Third: Anticipate Some Discomfort, Initially

The first time you get braces or Invisalign, it’s going to feel a little weird. There may be some discomfort initially, as you get accustomed to these covers over your teeth. With traditional braces, there may be mild discomfort and soreness at check-in appointments, as your teeth are slowly coaxed into being straight overtime.

Four: Results Take Time, and Patience
As you embark on this journey, there will be times when it seems like things are moving slowly, and like the day will never come when your dental treatment is finally complete. Dedicating to this process means you are in it for the long-haul, patience will be of the essence.

If you need an orthodontist, consider reaching out to a dentistry professional at John Redmond Orthodontics as soon as possible for a consultation.
