Are you looking for an Invisalign provider in Laguna Beach, CA?
At John Redmond Orthodontics, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with a Laguna Beach Invisalign provider today.
If you want to straighten your teeth without metal brackets, an orthodontist can evaluate whether Invisalign clear aligners suit your bite. Dr. M. John Redmond holds a Master of Science in Craniofacial Biology and a Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Southern California, and he graduated with honors from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Our Laguna Beach, CA Invisalign service begins at our San Clemente office with a full evaluation of each patient’s teeth, bite, and jaw. Patients can contact our office to request an appointment.
Invisalign Provider in Laguna Beach, CA
Invisalign treatment straightens teeth with a series of clear, removable plastic trays. Each set moves the teeth a small distance, and a new set replaces the last as treatment advances. At John Redmond Orthodontics, we treat teens and adults with Invisalign. Every case starts with a digital scan of the patient’s teeth.
Most Laguna Beach residents are adults. Census Bureau QuickFacts reports that only 15.2 percent are under 18, and removable aligners let adult patients eat and brush normally during treatment.
Invisalign Services We Offer in Laguna Beach
Invisalign addresses a range of tooth and bite concerns, and each case begins with an evaluation of the patient’s goals, bite, and jaw structure. We see patients from Laguna Beach, CA at our San Clemente office, and each one receives a treatment plan built from their own digital scan. Dr. Redmond reviews that plan with the patient, or with a parent in the case of a teenager, before the first trays are ordered. Patients whose cases need a different appliance can choose braces, airway treatment, or TMJ treatment from our other orthodontic services.
- Invisalign for crowded teeth. Crowding means the jaw lacks room for every tooth, so teeth overlap or twist. Aligners move each tooth into a planned position, which makes brushing and flossing easier and leaves fewer places for plaque to collect.
- Gap closure. Missing teeth, small teeth, or a wide jaw can all leave gaps. Aligners close them gradually while keeping neighboring teeth in balance.
- Bite correction. Overbites, underbites, and crossbites change how the upper and lower teeth meet, and Invisalign can treat many mild to moderate cases. Small attachments or elastics sometimes join the plan.
- Adult Invisalign. Many adults never had braces. Others notice that their teeth shifted after earlier treatment ended. Clear aligners address both situations without visible brackets or wires.
- Invisalign for teens. Teenagers who wear their trays as directed can straighten their teeth without brackets, and parents join Dr. Redmond in following progress at regular visits.
- Relapse treatment. Teeth drift after braces when retainers are worn inconsistently. A short course of aligners, sometimes called refinement, can often correct minor movement without repeating full treatment.
- iTero digital scanning. Putty molds were messy, slow, and not always accurate. An iTero scan replaced them and guides the treatment plan from the first visit.
- Braces. Some cases need brackets and wires, such as severe crowding or complex bite problems. Dr. Redmond recommends braces when they will produce a better result than aligners.
- Retainers. Retainers hold teeth in their new positions once active treatment ends, and each patient receives wear instructions that fit their individual case.
Why Choose John Redmond Orthodontics for Invisalign in Laguna Beach, CA?
Academic Training Behind Each Treatment Plan
Dr. M. John Redmond attended San Diego State University and graduated with honors from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He then completed a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Craniofacial Biology at the University of Southern California. Craniofacial biology is the study of how the teeth, jaws, and facial bones develop and work together. That background informs how he plans each aligner case.
His professional memberships include the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the California Dental Association. He also belongs to the Orange County Dental Association and the USC Orthodontic Alumni Association.
Orange County Roots and Continuity of Care
Dr. Redmond lives and practices in Orange County. John Redmond Orthodontics treats Laguna Beach patients at our office in San Clemente, CA, where we offer adult and pediatric orthodontics, braces, clear aligners, airway treatment, TMJ treatment, and iTero scanning. He directs each patient’s treatment from the first scan to the final retainers.
Our iTero scanner records the teeth digitally, so planning starts from an accurate three-dimensional model instead of a physical impression. Patients whose cases call for braces or other appliances also see Dr. Redmond, our orthodontist in Laguna Beach, CA. Completed cases appear in our before and after gallery.
Understanding Invisalign Care
Conditions We Treat and Treatment Options
Invisalign treats misalignment through a series of custom trays, and each tray applies gentle, even pressure across the teeth. The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) reports that patients usually wear one set for a week or two before moving to the next. Orthodontists weigh tooth position, bite, and jaw structure when deciding between Invisalign or braces. Invisalign commonly treats the following conditions.
- Crowded teeth that overlap or rotate and are harder to clean
- Gaps that result from tooth size, tooth loss, or jaw width
- Mild to moderate overbites, underbites, and crossbites that put uneven pressure on certain teeth
- Open bites of lesser severity, where the front teeth do not meet
- Relapse after earlier braces
Severe skeletal problems and complex tooth movements may call for braces instead. Dr. Redmond makes that determination after reviewing your scan and X-rays, and he explains his reasoning in plain terms. If braces fit better, he says so at the first visit, before any aligners are ordered. Patients who also report jaw joint pain can discuss TMJ treatment at the same visit.
What Should You Expect from Invisalign?
- The first visit includes a clinical exam, X-rays, an iTero scan, and a discussion of your goals.
- A digital plan maps the tooth movement before any trays are made.
- Plan on wearing each set 20 to 22 hours a day. You remove the trays to eat and to clean your teeth.
- Brush before putting them back in so food doesn’t sit against the teeth.
- Progress visits usually fall every six to eight weeks and run shorter than a braces adjustment. Dr. Redmond compares tooth movement with the digital plan each time and revises the plan when the teeth respond differently.
- Clean the trays daily, and keep them in their case whenever they’re out of your mouth.
- Some patients receive small tooth-colored attachments that help the trays grip.
- Wearing the trays fewer hours than directed slows tooth movement and can extend treatment, which is why consistent wear matters.
What Is the Typical Treatment Timeline?
- The evaluation and digital scan usually happen at the first appointment.
- Custom trays are manufactured after the scan is processed, and patients begin wearing them on arrival.
- Active wear lasts anywhere from several months to more than a year.
- Refinement trays near the end can adjust individual teeth.
- Retainers begin once the final aligner set is complete and continue as Dr. Redmond directs.
Total treatment time varies with the complexity of the bite and how consistently the trays are worn. Dr. Redmond gives each patient an individual estimate after the evaluation. He updates it if the teeth respond faster or slower than planned.
What Should You Bring to Your First Visit?
- Your dental insurance card
- X-rays or records from a previous dentist or orthodontist, if you have them
- A current medication list
- A list of questions about treatment, cost, and timing
New patient forms are available online, so you can complete them before you arrive. At the visit, Dr. Redmond reviews your scan, explains whether Invisalign suits your case, and answers your questions. You don’t need to begin treatment that day.
What Are Some Important California Orthodontic Resources?
These public resources help patients verify credentials and research orthodontic care in California, including Laguna Beach.

- The CDPH oral health plan from the California Department of Public Health summarizes state priorities for oral health and preventive care.
- MedlinePlus orthodontia from the National Library of Medicine explains how braces, aligners, and retainers straighten teeth and correct bite problems.

I currently have three kids going through braces here! The staff is so friendly and helpful, especially with changes in insurance. They are mindful of each patient…who is fearful, etc and talk them through each new phase. We have been so happy here!

Going to rate 5 stars since John and the back-of-house staff are excellent; kind, professional, and skilled. Unfortunately, the front desk are not quite up to par. When I called about retainer removal, I was told about a fee that wasn’t accurate/true, and when I asked for clarity, I was met with dismissive responses like “we can talk about it when you get here,” despite the fact I live over an hour away. On arrival, I wasn’t greeted and was instead cut off with “you’re checked in” before I could speak. The hostility from the receptionists was obvious and unprofessional, which overshadows the otherwise great clinical team.
